Donate Your Hair to a Deserving Michigan Child
Did you know that most insurance policies do not cover wigs for children? You can help them feel whole again!
Most commonly as a result of cancer treatments, children and adolescents who lose their hair and are forced to cover their heads with hats, scarves, or find other solutions. That's why Wigs 4 Kids is so important to our community. Wigs 4 Kids works with children and teenagers to ensure that they are paired with the perfect style, cut, and color to match their personal preference.
At Maggie's Wigs 4 Kids of Michigan Wellness Center & Salon, our mission is to provide hair replacement units and support services to help the self-esteem of children as they journey through their health challenge empowering them to look and feel better. The program assists young people experiencing hair loss as a result of cancer treatment, alopecia, trichotillomania, burns, and other disorders.
Although we appreciate everyone that wants to donate their hair to Wigs 4 Kids, there are some specific requirements for what the nonprofit can accept. Hair donations for this program must be at least 10 inches long, thoroughly washed and dried, and must not be colored or chemically treated. If you don’t meet these qualifications but still would like to contribute, monetary donations can be made online or by mail. Wigs 4 Kids is always looking for more volunteers as well!
